In my interview with Maja Arsic, I asked her “what is your vision?”.
She said: “Facilitating meaningful conversations even though they are sometimes difficult. If one person at least finds inspiration in the way I do things, that is already a big thing for me. That means I changed a life for the better. I like working with teams because my contribution is multiplied.”
Thank you Maja. Because you inspired me to write this post.
When we think about our lives, we usually think of ourselves as a single entity: I feel miserable in this job, this city does not feel like my home, I don’t have friends. And we want to change our state. We want to have better jobs, live happier lives and experience joy.
That is all good but we might be missing one important thing: the others and our connectedness.
What change can you make in your job and your life that will be beneficial to yourself, others and the world?
How do you want to contribute to the world?
What change do you want to lead?
These questions might sound arrogant for some, who were raised to be humble, to stay small, to not take attention. Some of you might not believe that they might change something in this world. But let me tell you, you can! And you should. That is your mission.
I shared this quote yesterday:
You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.Woodrow Wilson
I deeply believe in this.
There are various ways of contribution and changing this world. Some of us will start protesting alone in front of a government building and then create a big movement for environment. Some of us will write a post about how we will in our miserable jobs and how we found one little outlet where we could shine light to others and to ourselves. Somebody reading this post will feel the light and feel a bit more hopeful. Some of you will decorate your balcony with beautiful flowers and make the day of the passersby, remind them the beauty, variety and resourcefulness of the nature. Some of you will make jokes and make people laugh, give lightness to the lives of others or maybe inspire some of us to have more humour in our lives and not take ourselves too seriously. Some of you will read a post and send a message to the writer saying how that made you feel and make the writer not give up on his dream. Maybe this writer will start her dream book, create a best seller and inspire hundreds of people in their lives and inspire many others to become a writer. Maybe you will give a hug from your heart to your friend feeling not at her best and make her feel loved and acknowledged. She will get better, and pass on the hugs to many others who will feel love and acknowledged.
You can vary these examples, you can take it to extremes but one thing does not change: Your action, your energy, your attitude have an impact on us.
What impact do you want to create?
What will you do?
How will you act and feel to create that impact?
Who do you want to be?
Your choice will make all the difference.
You are a leader.
Take your position.
